I've never been wrong when predicting the end of the world, either.

Nailed on, it will be on a Tuesday

That Yellowstone business is imminent in geological terms, as is a big bugger of a sort out in the Canaries, rather surf inducing apparently

Read somewhere that early October is the time, some kind of centuries old predictive type that has never been wrong said so

Righto, where we all going on next year's holiday? Rather fancy Mauritius as it goes, any suggestions?

Anyone not actually in Yellowstone or within a few hundred miles will probably suffer a long and lingering death, possibly over years.

*moves to Yellowstone, gets fatally mauled by grizzly 100 years before the Caldera blows*

Actually it's more likely some sort of Randian capitalist running dog will pour scorn on it.

Mr Comma.

They should act decisively and pour some concrete over it.

Re: End of the world
Our biggest threat is the Yellowstone Caldera. Geologists reckon it erupts every 600,000 years and the last one in the series was 600,000 years ago.

If it goes up it would seriously threaten mankind.

No.

I'm MORE worried than I am about a religious loon's raving.

There's a name for this literary device, but I'm fucked if I can remember it.

Re: End of the world
You're worried about something that might happen 300,000 years from now?

gph 10:37 Wed Sep 20
Re: End of the world
Most religious ends of the world happen long before the scientific ones.

Next religious eotw: 2020 - Jesus is going to return to defeat the Anti-Christ, the Great Satan and the False Prophet.

Next scientific eotw: ~300,000 years from now - expected lifetime of neighbouring star WR104, before it goes supernova

I'm more worried about the latter.
